Woodcutting is a very basic skill in Runescape that allows both F2P and P2P to cut down trees and receive the logs. The logs are commonly used for the skills Construction, Fletching and Firemaking. Construction because you turn them into Planks and can build stuff with them, Firemaking because you can burn the logs, and Fletching so you can fletch them into bows (see all three skill guides for more info). You will learn the basics of Woodcutting in Tutorial Island and you will need a Hatchet or a Machete to cut down the trees. This skill is one of the earliest skills created since Runescape Classic.
Hatchets
Hatchets, or Axes are what you need to cut down the trees. The higher the metal of the Hatchet the faster you will cut and receive logs. There are nine different kinds of Hatchets, explained in the table below. If you are not carrying one and attempt to cut down a tree it will say, 'Sorry you do not have a hatchet in which you have the woodcutting level to use.'
